I have always been a big fane of period attire and one of my favorite eras is the 18th century. I decided I am going to try and make an outfit, but first I need the stays.
For my stays I am using Butterick 4254 View B. I decided to do the front and back lacing version so I can put these on myself.
Fabric and Supplies:
For my stays they will be made out of some heavy pink cotton twill . It is interfaced with duck canvas and cotton for the lining. For boning I am using cable ties I found at Lowes and the grommets are from Weldon's Pet Supplies and more, (I know it sounds funny but they have some great prices on grommets.)
Progress:
Update March 11: Still working on mock up, I have had no time to sew it seems. I am changing the pattern to bring up the neckline and lengthen the stays two inches for my long waist, hopefully I will make some progress in the next few weeks.
Here are some pictures of my fabrics and supplies.
