Arwen's Rose Dress

Like many people out there I became a huge fan of the Lord of the Rings movies, especially the costumes. I loved the beautiful dresses that the character Arwen wore in the films and thought it would be fun to make a dress like them. The first one I made was the dress called the Rose dress because of it's color. I loved it, sadly the dress was cut from the first movie. Being the first time I ever made anything like this it was not my best or very accurate, but it was fun to make.

Patterns Used

To make my rose overdress I used McCalls patterns 3372 and 3010, view C for the sleeves. For my underdress, I used Simplicity 9891, view B and extended the sleeves.
Here is a picture of the patterns I used

Fabric
Over dress- A red stretch velvet. Underdress- A light pink cotton with a white floral design. At the time I made this dress I could not find a sheer, pink, floral fabric so I used this. I plan to remake th underdress with a more accurate sheer material linned with white silk essence, here is one I think would work wonderfully.

The dresses were pretty easy to make, I just had problems with the sleeves since I am horrible at sleeves. I am not happy with the underdress, it doesn't look right and I plan to redo it with better fabric and a better pattern, Simplicity 7964 looks great for it. Thought there is a lot wrong with both dresses, I am pretty proud of myself since this the first time I have ever made anything like this and this is the first time I have ever done alterations to a pattern.
